Gundalow Games delivers marketing, crowdfunding, and events programs that raise awareness, generate sales and loyalty, and grow your community of gamers. I’ve been where you are and know how to achieve your goals quickly and efficiently.

Regardless of the size or nature of your project, my approach is the same: I dig deep into your project, understanding you, your audiences, and how to best connect the two.

I develop a thorough and actionable plan that includes messaging, potential issues and opportunities, and strategically-focused tactics to implement throughout your campaign or event. The plan is flexible so that you can pick and choose the elements that you take on yourself.

With agency knowledge and industry experience, let me be your trusted advisor to plan and support your next tabletop game project.

  • I deliver and implement custom marketing plans that get gamers and influencers excited via advertising, media relations, events, email, and social media. We will plan and purchase your digital and social media marketing programs including paid ads (from outlets like Boardgamegeek.com, Facebook & Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and Reddit) and integrated sponsorships (contests and other online promotions). We’ll manage your content creation from concept to implementation. You’ll be kept updated on the campaign’s success and optimization.

I have experience with retail and e-commerce marketing (Amazon, publisher storefront) including e-newsletters, SEO and marketing, and remarketing. We can also prepare your sales materials and presentations for retailers, distributors, and other trade audiences.

  • I have extensive earned media experience within the board game industry. I will execute strategies that get your game news out to trade media outlets and influencers whose audiences would be interested in your project. I start with identifying your objectives and defining your audience. I then develop a custom media list that outlines the contacts that will best match your objectives. I deliver tailored story pitches for your project based on the outlets, or can coach you on how to pitch successfully on your own. I will prepare key messages and media releases and will also manage any reactive media/influencer requests related to your project and track coverage and social media mentions. Influencer programs may include paid promotion tactics.

You might also benefit from a custom media training session where I provide you with an overview of the basics of effective media relations in a way that is tailored to your game or company.

  • This is the backbone of my communications services. Whether it’s for your campaign page, a video script, an e-newsletter, or responding to online feedback, I deliver plain language, backer-focused written content.

  • Our industry has grown substantially in recent years, even in the face of a pandemic. But the market growth has also created new challenges and opportunities. Running a Kickstarter, Gamefound, or Backerkit campaign can be stressful and isolating. I’m here to help you with an outside perspective at every step of the way.

  • There’s no one more important than your fans and customers. My work is informed by regular two-way communication with your key stakeholders and this is built into any event, campaign, announcement, or product launch. Building from the campaign plan, I provide hands-on communications support as needed. Need someone to respond to backer comments on Kickstarter or handle your social media accounts during the campaign? I have you covered. Need advice on what backers expect or how to seek their input on your project? I’ll do that too. I can also provide guidance on pledge manager systems and setting them up.

  • Your designer has tweeted something controversial. Your artwork is being criticized. Your theme is garnering the wrong kind of attention.

When unforeseen issues threaten to derail your game, I will advise you on response strategies to return your campaign and/or marketing to normal.

  • I’ve experienced (and exhibited) at the biggest gaming shows. As a Canadian living in the UK, I’m uniquely positioned to support North American companies looking to exhibit in Europe, or European companies wanting to extend their reach into North America.

I will manage all aspects of your event development and execution by working with trusted suppliers and volunteers. Typical services include: an event plan – to be updated on a regular basis as the event structure develops; securing booth space (or other location); arranging signage and decor; planning influencer/media tactics; recruiting and training booth staff; arranging accommodations and meals where applicable; providing sales, demo, or other support on-site.

  • I work with trusted and experienced graphic designers, videographers, photographers, sculptors, animators, illustrators, and other creative professionals to make sure that your promotional assets are strategically aligned and attract gamers’ attention. Having someone on your team who has deep experience in working with creatives will save you time and money as you develop brand assets and an identity for your game.

  • How big should the box be? Are the rules clear? Who can fix this broken mechanism? How do we get a language partner?

As a former board game studio manager, I offer a variety of skills outside of marketing and communications. I’m happy to provide advice and guidance in areas of game design and development, product design, and production management. I can copy edit and review game rulebooks from a gamer’s point of view or connect you with a professional rules editor. Whatever coaching or help you might need in getting a game published, I’m happy to offer my assistance.

As a bonus to these skills, I also have management experience and training, and I know how to advise and support internal senior leadership. As a spokesperson, I’m used to speaking in public and under pressure. I’ve done on-camera and voice-over work and have even done stand-up comedy on a number of occasions, so I’m more than prepared to represent your game or your company.
